MARK KNOPFLER: Solo and Straits
A classic album by his band is back in the British charts.
Last year, Mark Knopfler recorded a live version of his song “Going Home” to commemorate the millionth person crossing the finish line of the Bupa Great North Run, which takes place annually in the northeast of England. The song was released digitally in the U.K. last September with all of the royalties going to Future Fund, a charity that supports children’s cancer research. The track is now available to download worldwide.
Dire Straits‘ 1985 album, Brothers in Arms, which has sold over 30-million copies worldwide, has re-entered the British chart this week at number-eight. The surge in sales is due to a bargain price on Google Play and iTunes, where it can be downloaded for $1.51.
