GRAMMY PREVIEW: David Bowie, Who Is Not a Fan
David Bowie came out his New York City apartment long enough in 2012 to record his first album in 10 years, The Next Day, which came out last March. The album has earned him Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” and Best Recording Package. But should Bowie win, don’t expect him to show up at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday to collect a gramophone statue.
He tells us he is “not into the Grammy Award-type situation. I get very suspicious and the way people are chosen for it. So much of it is geared around album sales and not really on quality of work. I can live without it.”
Bowie has two Grammys to his name, but no word on where or if he has them displayed.
The other classic rock acts up for a Grammy this year are Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Black Sabbath and Neil Young.
