LED ZEPPELIN: Taking the Symbols Into the House
Jimmy Page said he had four songs ready to go when Led Zeppelin started recording Houses of the Holy.
With this week’s re-release of Led Zeppelin Four and Houses of the Holy, we asked Jimmy Page how Led Zeppelin went about following up Four, which rocketed them into the stratosphere, with Houses of the Holy.
He tells us he had at least three songs in his back pocket — “The Song Remains the Same,” “Rain Song” and “Over the Hills and Far Away” — adding, “Whenever it was time to do another album, I’d always have at least four songs to be going in with to see what else was coming from other directions.”
Both of these albums, the latest in the complete Zeppelin studio catalog reissue program, have remastered and contain numerous bonus tracks.
