David Lee Roth‘s beloved Uncle Manny Roth has passed away. On his website Roth writes, “He was happy, laughing and smiling right up ’til the end. His presence is already missed. His contributions are with us forever.” Manny was 95.
Manny Roth opened the Cafe Wha in 1959 on MacDougal Street in New York’s Greenwich Village in 1959, and its stage has hosted the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, The Velvet Underground, Bill Cosby and many other legends, including Van Halen in January 2012 in celebration of their album that year, A Different Kind of Truth. Manny sold the club in 1968, but he was there for the VH show two years ago
