Randi’s Rock Report: DLR – A Comic Mind – The Roth Project…

David Lee Roth has launched a new online undertaking called The Roth Project.

“This immersive interactive comic is a high resolution visual & audio story that is best experienced on a fast computer/device and a fast internet connection,” reads a description on the web site. “Put on your headphones. Open your mind.”

The Roth Project is broken down into 17 chapters, which Roth narrates, and he included portions of four more previously unreleased songs that he wrote and recorded with guitarist John 5 at least six years ago. There is also a portion of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill,” which he released the complete version of on Friday and dedicated to Eddie Van Halen.

David Lee Roth narrates chapter one, “How About a Little Fire Scarecrow?”, of The Roth Project.
David Lee Roth – “Alligator Pants.”
David Lee Roth – “Giddy Up.”

David Lee Roth – “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill.”

The site — TheRothProject.com — even includes a tutorial video to help you navigate the comic book, which features Roth’s Japanese ink paintings.

David Lee Roth has taken the wraps off a poppy sounding song he recorded at least six years ago and released it in memory of Eddie Van Halen.
Audio of the mainly acoustic and catchy “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill” — the legendary West Hollywood, California restaurant and club — is available on YouTube, and it’s accompanied by one of Roth’s Japanese ink paintings, which has written on it: “Hey Ed, I’m gonna miss ya. See you on the other side…”
