When director Oliver Stone made his movie on The Doors in 1991, it wasn’t warmly embraced by the band’s surviving members Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore.
But, with the success of Queen‘s Bohemian Rhapsody and Elton John‘s Rocketman. Krieger is working on developing his own theatrical release on his former band.
“It would be like the early days of The Doors, up to the point where ‘Light My Fire’ hits. And to me, that was the best days of The Doors because Jim [Morrison] wasn’t out of control and his real genius was more apparent. And, I think people would like to know how we came up with those songs, which the Oliver Stone movie didn’t really hit on that much, you know. So, I’m trying to get that going.”

Krieger just released his first album in 10 years last Friday, The Ritual Begins at Sundown, a collection of jazz instrumentals.
