STEVIE NICKS: 40-Year-Old Selfies
Polaroids she took of herself in the mid-’70s to go on display in New York.
Selfies are nothing new — they’ve just become easier to take.
A series of Polaroid snaps Stevie Nicks took of herself from the mid-’70s through 1987 will go on display starting October 10th at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York. Titled 24 Karat Gold, the exhibit is in conjunction with her upcoming album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault.
She says, “Some people don’t sleep at night — I am one of those people. These pictures were taken long after everyone had gone to bed — I would begin after midnight and go until 4 or 5 in the morning. I stopped at sunrise — like a vampire… I never really thought anyone would ever see these pictures, they went into shoe boxes, where they remained. I did everything — I was the stylist, the makeup artist, the furniture mover, the lighting director. It was my joy — I was the model.”
The booklet for the deluxe version of this release, which comes out on October 7th, contains many of the photos in the exhibit, which runs through October 31st.
