To publicize Bob Dylan‘s latest Bootleg Series release, The Basement Tapes Complete, Legacy Recordings has produced a short promo film narrated by Jeff Bridges.

Up now on Dylan’s website and Facebook page, From the Village to the Basement compresses more than 12,000 photographs into an extended time-lapse tracking shot, starting on the sidewalk in front of the Washington Square Hotel in Greenwich Village, moving northward toward upstate New York, and finally pulling into the driveway of Big Pink, the house in West Saugerties where Dylan and The Band recorded The Basement Tapes in 1967.

Bridges serves as the tour guide on the drive up the West Side of Manhattan into the countryside, recounting the history and mystery of those sessions, their influence on American music and the bootleg culture these recordings launched.
