U2: Surprise Set at Charity Event
U2 did a surprise three song set at a charity event in Beverly Hills, California Saturday night.
The band attended the third annual Sean Penn and Friends Help Haiti Home benefit at the Montage Beverly Hills hotel. Bono and The Edge took the stage first, performing a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” with Haitian singer Anaelle Jean-Pierre. Then, the group did “Desire,” “Vertigo” and “I Will Follow.”
Bono told the crowd it was the band’s first performance in four years — and that was reported by many outlets — but it isn’t technically correct. The band last played a show to an audience on July 30, 2011 at the end of the 360 Degrees tour in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
