STYX: Shaw’s Kid to the Rescue
Hannah Shaw, the daughter of Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw and executive director of Rocking to the Rescue, put in motion a plan to save six bears who were on death row in New York State.
This all started after she heard about a bear in Albany, New York that had to be put down last month after falling from a tree. She contacted the Department of Environmental Conservation and they asked for her help with the six other bears that needed a home. With her help the bears are now headed to a sanctuary in San Diego before their final stop at a sanctuary in Colorado. A black bear can live for 30 years in captivity and cost $10,000 per year to feed.
Rocking to the Rescue was founded by Styx and REO Speedwagon.
