ANDREW LLOYD WEBER: Jesus Christ Supersuit

Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s big-budget revamp of Jesus Christ Superstar crashed and burned before it even hit the stage earlier this spring — and now he’s suing the promoter for millions.
Webber had enlisted a cast including Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Incubus singer Brandon Boyd and Sex Pistols leader John Lydon for the coast-to-coast arena tour, but promoter Michael Cohl pulled the plug days before the first scheduled performance. Now, the composer wants payback and has issued a statement saying, “We had a sell-out U.K. arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2012 and, in 2013, the same production toured Australia, also playing to capacity audiences with unprecedented success. [Cohl] had agreed to be the promoter of this tour [and] was responsible for all of the costs associated with the U.S. dates.”
